By Rubén Morales Iglesias: News articles on Kylian Mbappé are springing up every minute it would appear if you start following international news. Some serious, some funny, some wild, some just too crazy to believe.

Following the footsteps of Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappé reportedly said he isn’t interested in the US$1.1 billion offer by Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal made public on Monday. The Saudi club reportedly made a US$332 milion transfer bid to PSG for the French Star who would be paid $776 million for one year. ESPN reported that PSG had confirmed the French club had accepted the offer and had given the French star permission to negotiate. At the same time, ESPN said sources told them that Mbappé isn’t interested in going to Saudi Arabia, where Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing for a year, as things stand at the moment.

When Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo heard of Mbappé’s Al Hilal snub, he posted a selfie sending a message to Al Hilal that he would take the transfer offer.

“Al Hilal you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappe,” Antetokounmpo said alongside his smiling selfie.

Other sports stars are following Giannis’ lead. Usain Bolt said he is ready to unretire for $776M a year, Draymond Green said they must have basketball leagues as well and his contract ink hasn’t dried up yet, Damian Lillard laughed at the ‘1 year 776m’.

Even Lebron James got into the fray tweeting ‘Me headed to Saudi when they call @RichPaul4 & @mavcarter for that 1 year deal!”

That has reportedly caused Mbappé to be totally amused.

Word also circulated on Monday that PSG are offering Mbappé $US1.11 billion for him to sign a ten-year contract with the club. But would he accept that if Al Hilal are offering him US$776 million for just one year.

Mbappé had been wanted by top clubs in the world, Spain’s Real Madrid in particular. The Spanish club had expected him to make the move last year, but Mbappé snubbed them, so now they are playing it low. However, word from Spain on Monday said the Al Hilal offer would keep him a year in Saudi Arabia but would allow him to move to Real Madrid next year.

PSG reportedly don’t want him to go next year because that’s when his present contract expires and Mbappé would go for free. They would rather collect some monies right now if he is to move. But the billion-dollar offer would secure him for a decade.

The question is … does Mbappe want to stay? Lately he has been speaking his mind … and the things he’s said are not very complimentary of the club. Mbappé, it appears, fears he’s not going to win big trophies, like the UEFA Champions League, if he stays at PSG.

For now, PSG have sidelined him from their pre-season tour to Japan and have him training with the reserves until the matter is resolved.

So, we wait and see, if like Messi he stays away from Saudi Arabia. Or will Mbappé change his mind?
