Belize make successful start to Centrobasket Under-17 tournament, defeat Panama 78-67

By Aaron Humes: It was a successful start to the FIBA U-17 Centrobasket Tournament tonight for Team Belize, who defeated Panama by 78 to 67.

The players started out cautiously but settled into the game and gave a good showing.

Earlier, two tournament favorites ran over their opponents – Mexico defeated El Salvador and Dominican Republic crushing Costa Rica.

Reports say Belize’s next opponent, Jamaica, is without two of its top players and so there appears to be a chance to bank another win. Game time is 7:30 Thursday night at the Civic Center.
