By Aaron Humes: Treasury Department clerk Rona Ireland of Belize City remains in custody awaiting bail on three charges of theft from the Government of Belize which she works for.
Ireland appeared in court charged with three counts of theft. Allegations are that on February 3, she dishonestly appropriated the sum of $933.33; again on May 4, it is alleged that she dishonestly appropriated the sum of $600, and a third time it is alleged that she dishonestly appropriated the sum of $2,969.54 on May 25, property of the Government of Belize, with intent to deprive the Government of such property.
Ireland pleaded not guilty to all three charges and since the police court prosecutor had no objection to bail, she was offered bail in the sum of $2,000 plus two sureties of $1,000 each.
Ireland returns to court on September 22.
