Meet Team Belize competing in the FIBA Under 17 CentroBasket Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The U-17 Belize Boys National Basketball Team is competing in the FIBA Under 17 CentroBasket Championship which starts on Wednesday at the Belize City Civic Center.

Belize is playing in Group A along with Jamaica, Panama, and Puerto Rico. Group B consists of Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.

Belize open against Panama on Wednesday at 8:30 pm.

Here’s the team you’ll see on the court representing The Jewel.

Guards:

Devin Moody, 6’3” – Belize City hails from Belize City. Jersey: #5

Elijah Favela is from Corozal but lives in the United States. He is 6’1”. Jersey: #1

Ian Parham Junior hails from the United States. He is the tallest guard at 6’5”. Jersey: #7

Jason Orosco from Belize City is 6’2”. Jersey: #0

Meshach Flowers from Belmopan is 6’4”. Jersey: #9

Tevaughan Dawson is from Orange Walk, He is 6’0”. Jersey: #10

Daniel Musa from Belize City is 6’1”. Jersey: #3

Forwards;

Wilford Dawson, 6’7” is from Biscayne in the Belize District. Lives in the United States. Jersey: #4

Michael Caceres is 6’6”. He’s from Belize City. Jersey: #2

Thomas Garcia is 6’0’. He’s from Belize City. Jersey: #12

And the Centers.

Douglas Langford Jr from Dangriga; he is 6’9”. Jersey: #24

Amare Jones from Belmopan is 6’5”. Jersey: #15

According to FIBA, the coach is Darwin ‘Puppy’ Leslie. The assistant coaches are Roscoe Anderson and Stephen Williams.
