By Aaron Humes: A Nicaraguan national who was out socializing with a friend back in January and ended up being jacked by a group of three men was forgiving in court to one of his attackers.

Apolinar Castillo of Mopan Street, Belize City was robbed on January 8 of his personal items including his watch, cell phone and $750 in cash, all to a total value of $1,980. The incident took place outside a nightclub on East Collet Canal Street, Belize City and the other two robbers were never identified.

The robbery was captured on surveillance cameras and police arrested and charged 32-year-old Jair Garcia, a construction worker of Ebony Street, Belize City.

But on Friday as the trial was to have begun in Magistrate’s Court, Apolinar Castillo took the stand and told the court he does not wish to continue the case. The charge was dismissed from Garcia for want of prosecution and he was set free.
