By Celeste Chang: Breaking Belize News congratulates Kerwin Guild, Kassidy Blanco and Caden Sosa, who finished in that order in the Department of Youth Services’ second annual spelling bee competition on Friday, July 28.
The collaboration with the Port AVP Innovators, a violence prevention community-based group under the Department of Youth Services, as well as key stakeholders such as the National Committee for Families and Children (NCFC), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Belize National Library Service and Information System, according to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport made this spelling Bee a success.
The motivation for this competition was to promote meaningful relationships between youths and residents of various communities, to build cognitive abilities, knowledge, and self-confidence, and to foster a competitive spirit.
Prizes were awarded by Minister of State Gilroy Usher Senior.
