Belize City man charged for assaulting police officer during stop and search

By Aaron Humes: A Pinks Alley resident is out on bail after being accused of assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duties.

40-year-old Bert Jay Foreman was stopped by a motorcycle patrol on Monday night as he was allegedly riding contrary to the flow of traffic.

But Foreman objected to being searched by the officers and the resulting back-and-forth escalated to an alleged assault where Foreman pushed the officer in the chest.

Foreman pleaded not guilty in court and met bail of $800 subject to staying away from the accusing officer.

Foreman’s next court date is set for September 18.
