Man on remand for murder charge given jail time for old offense of failing to wear face mask during State of Emergency

By Aaron Humes: Belizeans don’t miss the bad old days of 2020 and 2021 when most would not be caught dead in public without a face mask, hand sanitizer and even a shield if we could afford one.

But years after being charged and fighting the case at trial, Robert Lamb, who is on remand on a charge of murder, was found guilty of failing to wear one during a state of emergency and fined $1,000 at Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Since he is on remand and unable to pay the fine, he will serve the three months imprisonment instead as he awaits his murder case.

The Ladyville resident is jointly accused with Kevin Lanza and Samuel Trapp of the murder of Gabriel Tillett, whose body was discovered in the Lord’s Ridge Cemetery in Belize City in early July.
