Man remanded to jail for alleged domestic incident against estranged common-law-wife, he claims she made it all up

Posted: Wednesday, August 2, 2023. 9:31 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ronald Bradley, 32, a Mahogany Heights resident is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with three criminal offences in an alleged domestic incident against his estranged common-law-wife. He claims, however, that she fabricated the report against him.

Bradley appeared before a Senior Magistrate in court #2 today where he was read three charges: wounding, damage to property and using insulting words against his ex. He initially entered a guilty plea but then explained that the report against him was false.

After he gave his explanation, the Senior Magistrate entered an equivocal not guilty plea on his behalf and since there was no objection to bail being offered to him, the Senior Magistrate offered him bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety or two sureties of $1,000 each.

Up until 4:00 this evening, Bradley was unable to meet bail and he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until October 2, 2023.

Conditions to Bradley’s bail is that he must not interfere with the virtual complainant or any other prosecution witnesses, and he must also be 100 yards from the complainant.

His former common-law-wife reported to police that on Saturday, July 29, at about 8:00 p.m., while she was at home, she heard a banging on her door and Bradley began to curse her out. She claims began to bang on her windows causing it to break and that’s when she saw him with a machete in his hand.

She alleges that she tried to take away the machete and then he threatened her and insulted her verbally.

She further claims he then took a stone and threw it through the window, which caught her and she began to bleed. She then called police for help and Bradley was subsequently arrested and charged.
