By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister John Briceño met with the Senior Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group Kim Dong Wook in South Korea.
“While Hyundai heads towards a net-zero carbon footprint by 2045, their plans for electric vehicles and being environmentally sustainable in operations rings positive with our country’s environmentally responsible management,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Briceño noted that Hyundai expressed interest in training Belizean youth in the automotive and maintenance industry.
“This represents skills development for our Belizeans. The company has a sound corporate social responsibility program directed at developing nations like Belize,” the Prime Minister added.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister met with President Yoon Suk Yeol as South Korea seeks support for the 2030 World Expo to be hosted in Busan.
Belize and South Korea have also now formalized a Cooperation Agreement that includes benefit from the Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund for the first time.
