By Aaron Humes: Derrick Bull of Guinea Grass village, Orange Walk District, remains in police custody pending charges of murder after allegedly fatally shooting his daughter’s partner, Jael Jimenez, in the chest on Saturday night.
According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division and Acting Department Press Officer, “Investigation revealed that Jael Jimenez was having a domestic dispute with his [common-law] wife, Dariani Bull, and at some point, somebody called for Dariani Bull’s father, namely Derrick Bull. Derrick Bull came to the house and took out a firearm and fired a single shot which caused the fatal injury to Jael Jimenez.”
But it’s not quite that simple according to family members, who have told others in the press that the couple, who shared a child, often had domestic disagreements, some of which got out of control. This one took place at a family gathering and reports say Bull asked no questions before firing the fatal shot.
He then took off in his Ford F-150 pickup truck and was not seen until Tuesday evening, when he turned himself in accompanied by attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley.
Police said they were unaware of any prior domestic complaints by either Jimenez or Dariani Bull or other family members.
