Derrick Bull waves at family as he is remanded for murder and aggravated assault

By Aaron Humes: Only hours after being arrested and charged, Derrick Albert Bull, 40, was in court to be read charges of murder and aggravated assault – but the hearing took place in Belize City, not Orange Walk Town.

According to attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley, the magistrate in Orange Walk was out at a conference and so the hearing was moved to the Old Capital. An additional count of aggravated assault with a firearm was read in relation to Andy Jimenez, the brother of the deceased, Jael Jimenez. He is also expected to face another count of this charge in relation to the deceased’s mother Irene.

No plea was taken from Bull and due to the nature of the offense, no bail could be granted to the accused as explain by the Magistrate.

Bull was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until October 26, where he will appear in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court.
