Government and Saudi Fund for Development sign historic $77 Million agreement for solar energy plant in Belize

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Government of Belize and the Saudi Fund for Development signed a historic agreement today for a solar energy plant to be built in the country, which is expected to result in many benefits including lower powers cost, increased access to electricity and jobs.

“The Government of Belize today made renewable energy history with the signing of a US$77 Million loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development, for the construction of a 60 megawatt Solar Energy Plant in Belize,” a government release stated.

This 60MW solar energy plant will stabilize the nation’s energy supply, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and promote a cleaner and more sustainable energy source while providing cost savings, environmental sustainability, job creation, and improved access to electricity to rural communities, it noted.
