Ministry of Infrastructure & Development conducts road works in San Benito Poite

By Celeste Chang: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing (MIDH) sent a team to San Benito Poite this week to conduct spot patching, clearing, dumping and grading of one of the access roads in the village. 

“Backbreaking work, but our people deserve all that we can give them. Kudos to our team which understands our mandate and delivers always,” MIDH said in a post.

San Benito poite is a remote village nestled in the southwestern corner of Belize close to the border of Guatemala. It is populated at an estimated 515 people who are primarily Q’eqchi Maya. Most residents are farmers who rely on their annual crops, such as corn and beans, and livestock for both food and income.

This recent road works will assist the people in the village to have easier and smoother transportation.
