By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Minister of Youth, Sports, and Transport, Rodwell Ferguson, attended a special inaugural ceremony in Chetumal, marking the resumption of ADO bus services between Cancun, Mexico, and Belize.
The popular service had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving a void in regional connectivity.
Before the pandemic, ADO’s premier services were a vital link for both Belizeans and international visitors transiting across the Mexican border, enhancing Belize’s accessibility and strengthening ties with the region.
Earlier in the year, the Ministry revealed that ADO had been granted permission to initiate services at the Belize City bus terminal. The renewed connection is seen as an exciting development for both nations, providing more convenient transportation options and fostering a seamless travel experience between Belize and Mexico.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport emphasized its continued commitment to promoting efficient, sustainable, and comprehensive transportation systems that align with the needs and aspirations of the citizens. The resumption of ADO services is hailed as a positive step toward regional integration and improved cross-border mobility.
