Prime Minister says bids for Boledo license open, announcement to follow soon after 3 month delay

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño, in an interview last week, said the bids for the Boledo license have opened last week and there shoule be announcement coming within the next few weeks.

Noting that Boledo was last drawn some three months ago, the Prime Minister said the delay has been only because the government wants ensure that things are done properly before issuing a new license to whichever gaming company is selected.

“We want to ensure that whatever is done that the Belizean taxpayers, and in this case, we hope that most of that money will be able to go to the National Health Insurance,” Briceño told the press.

He said he is expecting a briefing from CEO Narda Garcia this week with regard to the bids for the license. He also noted that government has ordered machines that will be used for the new gaming system and they are getting the program ready and testing to ensure that it cannot be hacked or manipulated.
