Cabinet pledges ‘unwavering and complete confidence in PM John Briceño’

Posted: Thursday, August 10, 2023. 10:04 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Cabinet and Parliamentary Caucus has issued a statement declaring its “unwavering and complete confidence in our hardworking Prime Minister John Briceño and this PUP Government.”

It is an effort to stave off a no-confidence motion in the Government to be tabled and possibly debated during Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

Almost three years into their term of office, the Executive reaffirms that they “wholeheartedly believe in the agenda laid out in #PlanBelize.”

It continues, “Our Prime Minister has proven his commitment to the wellbeing and progress of all Belizeans. From economic growth and social welfare to environmental sustainability and technological innovation, the Briceño Administration has ensured that no section of society is left behind. Our leader has consistently engaged with the people, listening to their concerns, and responding with empathy and compassion. As a true servant of our people, our Prime Minister has remained steadfast in his commitment to bring hope and opportunity to the people of Belize.”

As proof, they cite the rise in wages outpacing inflation and the reduction in unemployment to a record low in April.

And they conclude, “As we stand united, we firmly believe that under his leadership and that of this People’s United Party Administration, our nation will continue to flourish, reaching new heights of success and prosperity.”
