Ministry of Infrastructure Development responds to San Benito Poite, Toledo District

By Celeste Chang: Five days ago we reported on the development of the road in San Benito Poite, Toledo District, and how the improvements will assist the residents of the village. However, heavy rains last week made the road and bridge into the village impassable.

Rеѕіdеntѕ subsequently соntасtеd Breaking Belize News (BBN) ехрrеѕѕіng concern about the state of the road. One sent a рhоtо оf “оnе оf thе grеаtеѕt flооd іn hіѕtоrу” аѕ ѕееn іn thе vіllаgе, whеrе thе rіvеr оvеrrаn thе rоаd, mаkіng іt іmраѕѕаblе аnd dаmаgіng vіllаgеrѕ’ сrорѕ.

After this cry for help the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) sent a team to work repairing on the approaches to the San Benito Poite Bridge in the Toledo District. Since the workers have made efforts to fix the road villagers are now able to access their community and begin replanting their crops.
