La Democracia man is convicted of using threatening words, common assault and damage to woman’s phone broken during domestic dispute

By Aaron Humes: La Democracia villager Tyrone Raheem Reyes was convicted in court on Thursday for allegedly assaulting, threatening and insulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

Reyes pleaded guilty to common assault upon his common-law-wife, using threatening words and damage to property for causing damages to her yellow dress valued at $55.

The complainant told police that Reyes punched her in her chest, insulted her and then during a struggle he ripped her yellow dress and broke her gold chain. He disputed parts of her account but pleaded guilty not to prolong the matter further.

Reyes was fined $405 for damage to property and ordered to pay this by November 30, in default, 4 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation in the sum of $405.

Reyes was also fined $105 for the insulting words and ordered to pay this fine by September 29, in default, 1 month imprisonment.

For the common assault, Reyes was fined $205 and given until October 31 to pay, in default 2 months imprisonment.
