By Aaron Humes: Belize is receiving its bronze medals and trophy for a third-place showing at the Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship at the Civic Center.

Volleyball Association President Allan Sharp thanked all participants for facilitating the meteoric rise of Belize volleyball and for a well-run and well-attended tournament.

Among the individual award winners, Raheem “Hendy” Flowers was named best receiver, responsible for blocking shots at the net, delivering balls to teammates and serving as an offensive weapon on the court.

Ernest Broaster Jr, son of the retired senior police officer and noted volleyball player in his day, was named best attacker 2, who used his height and size to ruthlessly crush serves and rallies.

Karym Coleman was named the best opposite, the ‘all-rounder’ position on a volleyball team.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) went to Carlos Lopez, captain of champions Guatemala.

Congratulations to all winners.
