By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On August 11, 2023, the Benque Viejo summer camp 2023 concluded with a back to school drive for participating youths.
The closing ceremony commenced with an invocation by pastor Kevin Tzib.
The national anthem was done by Los Hijos del West marimba.
Mayor of Benque Viejo, Jorge Rosales welcomed the stakeholders and thanked them for their support.
President of the stakeholders camp, Ciriaco Medina gave an overview of the camp.
Officer commanding Benque Viejo police, Assistant Superintendent Jesus Palma encouraged stakeholders to engage children and youths in initiatives to positively impact their communities.
Other attendees also included Jimmy Leslie from the Department of Youth Services, Josue Ramos representing the National Institute of Culture and History.
Vice President of the camp, Danny Castellanos from the Department of Youth Services thanked all participants and organizations for their support.
All youths that participated received a school bag with school supplies as part of a back to school drive.
