By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On August 11, 2023, U.S. Ambassador Michelle Kwan, in collaboration with conservationists, unveiled a research center at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, dedicated to the memory of the esteemed U.S. wildlife conservationist, the late Dr. Alan Rabinowitz.
Dr. Alan was a trailblazer in the conservation of wildcats and established the world’s first jaguar sanctuary in Belize.
U.S. Ambassador Kwan remarked, “This research facility stands as a testament to Dr. Alan’s lasting legacy in the conservation field. It aims to deepen environmental understanding for both Belizeans and the global community, promoting a world where nature and humanity thrive together.”
