Jasmine Hartin returns to court on drug possession and common assault charges with a new lawyer

Posted: Thursday, August 17, 2023. 10:45 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: On Wednesday Jasmine Hartin was scheduled to appear for a hearing on drug possession and common assault charges dating back to her arrest for the manslaughter by negligence of Senior Superintendent Henry Jemmott in May of 2021.

But she has not been in country since pleading guilty to the charge two years to the date later and paying her $75,000 fine and the case was adjourned again to a date in November.

According to Channel 5 News, Hartin is now being represented by attorney Lyden Jones and is preparing to fight the drug charge on the basis that the cocaine she was allegedly found with was actually pain reliever acetaminophen, the main ingredient in Tylenol.

Hartin is also accused of assaulting an employee of Alaia Hotel on June 25, 2021. She also continues to face a civil compensation claim from the Jemmott family for the wrongful death of the senior police officer.
