Double stabbing rocks Lemonal Village; two men hospitalized

By Aaron Humes: A serene corner of the country was disrupted by a double stabbing, leaving two older gentlemen hospitalized Saturday night after a cricket match in Lemonal, Belize District.

Village policeman Herbert Banner reports that a group of men were enjoying drinks post-match when tensions escalated between three individuals. A knife was drawn, leading to the stabbing of Russell Anthony and Tony Anthony of Lemonal.

Officer Banner intervened by discharging two warning shots from his licensed nine-millimeter pistol, subsequently subduing and detaining the alleged perpetrator. He was later informed that Tony Anthony was on his property, suffering from significant bleeding. Both victims were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, with stab wounds to the abdomen. While Russell Anthony is in stable condition, Tony Anthony is critically wounded.

The suspect is now in custody, and the weapon has been recovered as police investigations continue.
