Dimas Duarte, main suspect in murder of Erik Estrada, continues to evade police

By Aaron Humes: Police this afternoon issued a wanted notice for Dimas Duarte as chief suspect in the murder of Erik Estrada at El Rey Bar in Billy White Village, Cayo District, on Friday night.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams indicated in a police briefing this morning that the motive was a prior altercation a few months ago: “The information we have gathered is that a couple months ago – the month of May to be exact – Estrada was accused of stabbing Duarte, during a previous misunderstanding they had, and perhaps that is what motivated what took place on Friday night.”

Ricocheting bullets injured the owner of the bar who was treated for her injuries and released.

Duarte is a licensed firearm owner and was previously a volunteer with the Police a few years ago, but he was not made a special constable and has not been ever directly employed by Police or Government. The Commissioner was not aware of alleged links to former senior officer Marco Vidal.

Duarte remains at large and those who know of his whereabouts are asked to contact Police or 922.
