Nicaraguan national living in Belize illegally fined, to be deported home

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Nicaraguan national living in Belize illegally has been given a $1,000 fine, which he must pay forthwith or spend 6 months in prison before being deported back home.

Favian Flores Hastin, 24, a Nicaraguan fisherman living in Belize appeared unrepresented in court today and pleaded guilty to a charge of entering Belize illegally.

Hastin allegedly crossed over into Belize via the Mopan River in Cayo on July 14. He was fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court. He was ordered to pay forthwith, in default 6 months in prison. He will be deported back to Nicaragua after he pays his fine or after he serves his time.
