National champions Verdes narrowly defeated in last match of Central American Cup

By Aaron Humes: Verdes FC of Cayo came its closest to a win tonight in the CONCACAF Central American Club Cup, a feeder to the regional Champions Cup, but lost tonight in Honduras 3-2 to hosts Olancho FC.

Joel Burgos and Krisean Lopez each scored for Verdes, their first goals of the tournament, but they were defeated in added time, leaving them without a point after losses to Alajuelense, Motagua, and Sporting San Miguelito, leaving them bottom of Group D.

The Green Machine now focus on defending their national title and perhaps earning another chance at regional glory next year.
