Family feud goes to court – theft charge for fan withdrawn

By Aaron Humes: 50-year-old Addington Ramos of Gabourel Lane, Belize City, saw a charge of theft withdrawn when his trial did not start due to the complainant not showing up to testify.

Ramos was accused by younger brother Raynard Kurt Samuels in September 2022 of stealing a $30 fan belonging to his late mother. He was out on bail and set for trial today.

Ramos told our court reporter that there is a larger family feud dating back to his mother’s death involving a 2 ½ acre property in the La Democracia area that his brother is contesting. The bad blood got to the point where he had to temporarily move out of the family home to avoid trouble, but with the charge now dismissed, he intends to go back.
