Minister of Youth and Sports tours major stadia in Old Capital

By Celeste Chang: Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport Rodwell Ferguson and Minister of State Gilroy Usher Sr. on Friday toured three of the most venerable sporting grounds in Belize City: Rogers Stadium, the MCC Grounds and Marion Jones Sporting Complex.

The visit is a yearly activity to look over the progress of sports at the different facilities, hear the queries of the staff, and discuss ways to take sports to a higher level in the country.

Sports in Belize have become increasingly popular and competitive as there have been more tournaments in the country in the past years. Hence the importance of the upkeeping of the fields and stadiums. Sports can be a great revenue source of income for Belize; the government can host more games/tournaments creating jobs for people, and more publicity as the country becomes more prosperous – in the field of sports the possibilities are endless.
