No gun, no ammo, no case: Everal Sambula walks from firearm charges

By Aaron Humes: Four years ago, police charged Partridge Street resident Everal Sambula for a .38 special revolver and three rounds of .38 ammunition they said they had seen him throw away.

But when neither was produced in court by the prosecution, the Magistrate freed him of the charges of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police claimed he had knowledge of the weapon and that they had seen him throw an object in a yard under a house. Returning to the area, they claim they found a .38 firearm loaded with three live rounds.

But defense attorney Ronell Gonzalez said he didn’t even have to make a no-case submission because of the facts of the case, there being no exhibit to present in court, leaving the charge unproved.
