Busy Atlantic as forecasters monitor Hurricanes Franklin, Idalia, Tropical Depression 11 and 2 more disturbances

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez:  Weather experts are busy monitoring Hurricanes Franklin and Idalia along with Tropical depression 11 and 2 more disturbances in the Atlantic.

As of this morning, the center of now Category 1 Hurricane Idalia is crossing into Southern Georgia.

Idalia battered Florida’s Big Bend causing major power outage and flooding.

Idalia will move across southeastern Georgia today, near the coast of South Carolina tonight, and just offshore the coast of southern North Carolina on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center forecasts.

Hurricane Franklin continues to cause dangerous surf and rip current conditions as its outer bands passes near Bermuda.

Maximum sustained winds are near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast over the next several days.

Tropical depression 11 continues to meander over the central Atlantic.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.

The system is expected to become a remnant low within the next couple of days.

In the eastern Tropical Atlantic, AL94 is a broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave. It is located near the Cabo Verde Islands is producing an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

This system has a 60% chance of formation through the next 7 days.

The remnants of Gert is also producing showers and thunderstorms a few several hundred miles to the north of the northern Leeward Islands.

This system has a 10% chance of formation through the next 7 days.
