Businesses can win up to $5,000 in cash in Belize City Council’s Decorate Your Business competition

By Celeste Chang: In the spirit of Belize’s 42nd independence anniversary, the Belize City Council has created a patriotic competition for all Belize City businesses. There are no costs or fees; business owners may enter for free. All you have to do is make a Facebook post of your decorated business storefront or the photos of your decorated park or roundabout your business chose to adopt with the Facebook caption “Belize City Council’s 2023 Decorate Your Business competition: Belize @42 edition” and the hashtag “#celebrateBelizeCity.”

The Facebook post with the most engagement wins and it has to be the engagement on the original post. Decorations must be viewable from the sidewalk walk but should not disturb the walkway or streets. Business owners must note that the photos from the competition will be “ all rights reserved” for the Belize City Council use.

Winners will receive a write-off on their 2024 Trade License Payment and a cash prize (first place $5,000, second place $3,000 and third place $1,500) for decorating their business place to match the festive month of September. The submission deadline is September 17 and winners will be announced on September 21.
