By Aaron Humes: A Honduran man’s visit to the Immigration Department in Belize City to seek an employment permit to work in Belize went entirely wrong when he admitted to entering the country illegally.
29-year-old Carlos Roberto Martinez Ledezma admitted in court to illegal entry to Belize via the banks of the Mopan River in Benque Viejo Del Carmen, Cayo District on Friday, August 25. He said he was not aware that what he did was wrong.
Nonetheless, he was fined $1,000 and cost of court due immediately in default six months imprisonment and was ordered to be expelled after he had either paid the fine or served the jail time.
