Windshield vandal strikes in Hattieville: Over 20 trucks targeted

Posted: Friday, September 1, 2023. 3:37 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A wave of deliberate vandalism has left truck owners on edge as they pass through Hattieville Village in the Belize District. An unidentified individual has been systematically targeting trucks, with the primary act of destruction being the smashing of windshields. Bowen and Bowen trucks, along with other commercial vehicles, have borne the brunt of these unprovoked attacks.

One victim recently shared photographic evidence of the aftermath, showcasing his truck’s obliterated windshield, apparently the work of this rogue individual. This owner, like many others, is calling on the police to intervene, investigate, and bring the perpetrator to justice. The motive behind these acts remains unclear, but the economic and psychological toll on the truck drivers and owners is undeniable.

With the count of vandalized windshields reaching over 20, there is growing concern amongst truckers about the safety of their vehicles and themselves while traversing the Hattieville area. The frequency and focus of these acts suggest a methodical approach, raising questions about the vandal’s intentions and objectives.

Police are urged to step up patrols and surveillance in the affected areas, hoping to deter further attacks and potentially apprehend the perpetrator. The Hattieville community is also encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police.

Truck owners, meanwhile, are left in a precarious position, balancing their business needs with concerns for safety. While repairs can be made, the sense of security once felt when passing through Hattieville is now tainted with apprehension.

As the investigation continues, it is hoped that the responsible individual will be swiftly identified and held accountable for their actions, restoring a sense of safety and normalcy for all affected.
