By Aaron Humes: The past holiday weekend was thankfully light on major crimes including murder, but it was not entirely without incident.
Baymen Avenue on the Northside was the scene of rowdy behavior at the tail end of the Carnival Road March, some of which was caught on camera.
ACP Hilberto Romero, officer commanding Eastern Division, reported: “There were a couple of fights during the Carnival and we are reviewing video footage and when these persons are identified, we will proceed to arrest them and charge them for disorderly conduct. So that is an investigation that is ongoing at this time.”
As for police presence, which was rumoured to be close to 400 officers this weekend, he said there will clearly be a need for even greater numbers moving forward: “We will have additional personnel for the 21st parade. And so we will have more numbers on the grounds and we will police it accordingly.”
