By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two foreign national football players have been remanded to prison pending a removal order from the country after they were found to be in Belize beyond their visitor’s permits.

Luis Angel Rafael Altamirano, 19, a native of Peru, and Jonathan Lucas Moschini, from Argentina appeared in court on Tuesday unrepresented and each pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the conditions of a visitors permit extension.

Altamirano entered the country in July and was only to spend 30 days in the country. Moschini came to Belize in January and had originally gotten an extension which expired in March.

The men claim they play for the Port Loyola football team, however, noone from the team showed up on their behalf. They were each fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court which they were demanded to pay forthwith or face 6 months in prison. The men were remanded until further notice.
