By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño has departed for New York City today, leading a national delegation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit. This summit, gathering world leaders, is slated to run from September 18 to 19.
The Belize delegation is set to participate in multiple events, with Prime Minister Briceño poised to be the keynote speaker, primarily addressing topics related to the Blue Bond and the successful restructuring of Belize’s national debt.
The Blue Bond, an initiative pivotal in aiding countries to maintain sustainable ocean management while restructuring national debt, has been a focal topic in international discussions.
During Prime Minister Briceño’s absence, the duties of the Prime Minister will be temporarily assumed by Francis Fonseca, the country’s Minister of Education, Culture, Science & Technology. PM Briceño is expected to return to Belize on September 20.
