By Jose Luis Cruz: 71-year-old Ladyville resident, Richard Michael Estevan, found himself before the court on Friday for driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention.
Estevan appeared unrepresented in court and pleaded guilty to the charge. During his arraignment, the retired senior citizen explained that the traffic mishap occurred after an arm of his steering wheel broke off causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
Despite the freak nature of the accident, Estevan decided to show remorse for his action and pleaded guilty. He was fined $100, plus $5 cost of court for a total of $105.
