Taiwan Embassy in Belize hosts 2023 Taiwan cuisine show

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On September 15, 2023, the Taiwan Embassy in Belize and Belize Taiwan Chambers of Commerce co-hosted Taiwan Cuisine Show at Artbox, Belmopan.

The gastronomic event aimed to showcase Taiwan’s culinary art and to promote cultural exchange between the two countries.

Two renowned Taiwanese chefs, Ting-Wei Hung and Jian-Ming Li demonstrated authentic and exquisite Taiwanese dishes, including Sweet Cherry Tomato, Chicken Sautéed with Three Sauces, Fruity Shrimp Balls and Braised Pork on Rice.

Belize is their final stop of a 7-country and 36 days culinary journey in Latin America organized by Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council.

Taiwanese restaurants in Belize, including Formosa cafe, Simple Life, Wings and Feathers, Veggie Garden Restaurant, and Mama Chen also shared their signature dishes at the event, adding more flavors to this gastronomic show.

Moreover, the participation of Taiwan’s Technical Mission in Belize and Overseas Engineering and Construction Company (OECC) contributed to the richness of taste in this food event.

Approximately 100 invited guests, including Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam attended the event and enjoyed a taste of Taiwan’s rich gastronomic culture.
