38-year-old Lorenzo Smith charged for armed robbery at La Popular Bakery in Belize City

By Aaron Humes: On Tuesday, police made an arrest in a robbery reported on Saturday evening.

38-year-old Lorenzo Smith was arrested and charged for robbery of La Popular Bakery on Cemetery Road.

On Saturday evening, the bakery’s cashier reported that a tall brown-skinned man wearing a light grey shirt, a blue jeans short pants and a grey in color cap and face mask entered and pretended as if he were going to purchase something inside the bakery.

He then pulled out what appeared to be a chrome in color 9-millimeter pistol from inside a green plastic bag, pushed the security behind the cashier counter, and told the cashier to raise her hand and open the cash register. She complied and placed an undisclosed amount of cash inside the green plastic bag. The robber then exited the store and escaped in the direction of Central American Boulevard.
