By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize predicts predominantly fair weather conditions to continue blanketing the country, with the sky expected to be predominantly sunny with some intermittent cloudy spells today. Despite the sun-drenched projection, residents and visitors are cautioned to be ready for the odd shower, especially early in the morning.

According to the 24-hour forecast provided by the Meteorological Service, there will be a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly offshore and along the central and southern coastal areas early this morning. As the day progresses, showers and thunderstorms are anticipated to be few and far between.

Boaters and marine enthusiasts should take note of the marine conditions, which suggest eastward winds blowing at a moderate 5 to 15 knots. The sea is expected to be relatively calm with waves cresting between 1 to 3 feet. Those considering a beach day can anticipate coastal temperatures to hover around a high of 90°F (32°C) and a comfortable low of 81°F (27°C). Inland areas are expected to experience slightly warmer conditions, reaching highs of 95°F (35°C) and cooling down to a balmy 74°F (23°C) at night. Meanwhile, the hilly regions will provide residents with cooler climes, ranging between 81°F (27°C) and 68°F (20°C).

Looking forward to Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday, there is an expectation for some showers and isolated thunderstorms, primarily over the southern regions and along coastal areas. However, this activity is expected to reduce as Wednesday unfolds.

Today’s tides are forecasted to be low at 6:44 AM, rising to their peak at 12:50 PM and ebbing once more by 6:19 PM. The sun will paint the skies of Belize with its first light at 5:41 AM and will retreat beneath the horizon at 5:51 PM. For those tracking lunar phases, the moon will ascend into the Belizean sky at 9:24 AM.

This forecast was prepared by Forecaster Ronald Gordon of the National Meteorological Service of Belize. All residents and visitors are encouraged to keep a watchful eye on the weather and stay safe.
