By Hugh O’Brien: International DJ OSOCITY, whose real name is Alex Haniff, either has fallen in love with Belize, or Belize has fallen in love with him, as the world renowned DJ is back in the Jewel for the fourth time (as per BBN’s record).
After delivering a superb performance at the Miss San Pedro Pageant After Party on June 24th, 2022, San Pedranos indeed appeared to have fallen in love with the DJ. Promoters are banking on this and have invited DJ OSOCITY to perform for the upcoming Independence Celebrations in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
Local event organizers and residents of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, are elated with the news. “Having a talent like OSOCITY grace our Independence Celebrations is a testament to the cultural and festive appeal of Belize. We are proud and thrilled,” shared Mario Lopez, a resident of San Pedro Town.
The popular DJ first visited Belize in February 2022 when he produced a new Amapiano Mix using the Xunantunich Maya Temple as the background for his YouTube video. He returned in June, 2022, to perform for the Miss San Pedro Pageant. He sneaked back into Belize in August last year for vacations, announcing on that third visit that he may be doing a mainland concert soon.
Just after his San Pedro After Party event last year, he claimed to have dedicated his performance to God and his late mom, posting on Facebook that “I hope you’re proud…Everything I am and hope to be I owe to God and My Mother.” He also suggested that he was “looking for a Belizean wife” and received tons of suggestions on social media.
Born and bred in South Florida, Haniff’s musical journey began in his youth, where he was deeply captivated by the vibrant world of music. His natural skill for understanding rhythms and beats quickly saw him rise the ranks in the world of DJing, making him one of the most sought-after online DJ’s today.
DJ OSOCITY has become one of the biggest fans of the Jewel and his posts on social media have helped to promote Belize internationally.
As OSOCITY gets ready to drop the beat, San Pedro is all set to dance its heart out, celebrating freedom, unity, and music for Independence day festivities.
