By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ernesto Garcia Calderon, 21, a Salvadoran national who overstayed his visit in Belize is on remand at the Belize Central Prison as he awaits deportation to his home country.
Calderon appeared unrepresented in court and pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the conditions of a visitors permit. He entered Belize on July 5 and was given until July 31 to stay but never got an extension.
In mitigation Calderon had nothing to say other than he wanted to be deported back home immediately because his parents are sick. He said he came to Belize to visit his brother in Orange Walk. He now awaits a date for his deportation while he is on remand in jail.
