Was alcohol a factor in fatal Belmopan crash?

By Aaron Humes: As investigations continue into the death of 30-year-old Esvin Damian, police are seeking to establish whether excessive alcohol consumption played a role in the fatal crash near the roundabout at the entrance to Belmopan late Saturday night.

Police have established that Damian, a carpenter and furniture store owner from San Ignacio Town, lost control of his Ford F-150 pick-up truck and overturned, with fatal injuries.

Police say they are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine whether alcohol was a factor in this fatal accident. Police say that they have also received information to suggest that Damian was stopped at a checkpoint and given the OK to proceed before the accident occurred. They are, however, looking to verify that information.
