By Horace Palacio: A relatively moist easterly airflow is dominating the general weather situation across Belize, according to the latest update from the National Meteorological Service of Belize.

For those planning their day, expect sunshine interspersed with occasional cloudy spells. Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast but remain isolated in nature. While the northern and central coastal regions might experience some early morning rain activity, the inland areas should brace for possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Mariners navigating Belizean waters can anticipate east winds blowing at speeds of 5-10 knots. The sea conditions are currently slight with wave heights ranging between 1 to 3 feet, making it relatively calm for maritime activities.

Temperature-wise, Belizeans are in for a warm day. Coastal areas will experience highs of 90 °F (32 °C) and lows of 81 °F (27 °C). Those in inland regions can expect even warmer temperatures with highs reaching up to 95 °F (35 °C) and lows around 74 °F (23 °C). For those residing or visiting the hills, the climate remains cooler with highs of 81 °F (27 °C) and lows of 68 °F (20 °C).

As for the immediate outlook, the meteorological service predicts an increase in showers, isolated thunderstorms, and periods of light to moderate rain, especially affecting southern areas. This is expected to start from Wednesday night, extending into Thursday morning. However, by Thursday afternoon, the weather activity is set to decrease and become more isolated.

For those coordinating their activities with natural light, the sun will rise at 5:41 AM today, while the moon will make its appearance at 10:21 AM.

Tidal information is crucial for fisherfolk and those involved in marine activities. Today’s high tide was recorded at 12:11 a.m., followed by a low tide at 7:35 a.m. Another high tide is expected at 1:45 p.m.

This weather report is brought to Belizeans by Forecaster Crystal Rosalez at the National Meteorological Service of Belize. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and make necessary preparations for any unexpected weather changes.
