Belize’s 42nd Independence anniversary honored by Embassy in Taiwan

By Celeste Chang: Yesterday, the Belize Embassy in the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Central American Trade Office celebrated Belize’s 42nd Independence Anniversary. The celebration unfolded under the Belizean national theme: “Hope Ignited, Hands United, Vision Renewed. Belize at 42!”

Among those present were the Prime Minister of Taiwan, H.E. Chen Chien-Jen; Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to Belize, H.E. Remus Chen; other government officials; ambassadors; representatives of trade offices; members of the media; friends of Belize; student performers from Rinxin Elementary School; and notably, student performers and representatives from Belize itself.

The occasion holds particular significance as Belize and Taiwan have consistently maintained a strong alliance. Seeing Taiwan’s support for such a milestone in Belizean history is genuinely heartwarming.

The celebration showcased Belizean music, cultural attire, and the myriad qualities that make Belize a unique paradise.

Taiwan also extended its support online, posting a heartfelt message on Facebook: “Happy 42nd Anniversary of Independence to Belize! On this joyful occasion, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is delighted to join the people and government of Belize in celebrating the 42nd Anniversary of Belizean Independence. Taiwan and Belize share a close and robust partnership, collaborating in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, climate resilience, ICT, and many others. As we congratulate Belize on this landmark anniversary, Taiwan remains committed to working hand-in-hand to further strengthen our bilateral ties and enhance the development of this wonderful country.
