Taiwan expresses gratitude to Belize for advocating for its inclusion at United Nations General Assembly

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On September 19, 2023, Prime Minister John Briceno addressed the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During his address, the Prime Minister called for Taiwan’s inclusion.

“The SDGs is a collective commitment. Taiwan and other partners are supporting our pursuit and we call on others to join us in inclusivity, equity, and solidarity,” Briceno stated.

Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Embassy in Belize have since extended gratitude for highlighting Taiwan as Belize’s partner in its pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations summit.

“The Embassy extends our heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Belize for the staunch support of Taiwan’s international participation. With such steadfast and unwavering support, Taiwan can play a more constructive role in the global community,” the Taiwan Embassy noted.
