Three armed robberies in Santa Elena within weeks; No arrests made

By Breaking Belize News Staff: On September 8, 2023, BBN reported an armed robbery at Anthony’s Store on George Price Highway in Santa Elena, Cayo.

The armed thieves escaped with the security guard’s firearm.

Video footage shows the culprits escaping on a motorcycle.

As police investigation continued into that robbery, a prominent businessman was attacked at 2 a.m. on September 14 as he was preparing to leave home.

Natalio Castaneda was reportedly leaving his home when he was attacked and shot multiple times.

He was taken for medical treatment at the Western Regional Hospital.

Police are yet to detain any suspects in that case.

And, just after 10 a.m. today, a delivery truck was targeted by 2 armed culprits on a motorcycle on the George Price Highway.

Sources say that the thieves escaped with a large amount of cash.

As residents continue to fear due to the escalating crime situation, authorities are yet to make any arrests for any of the 3 armed robberies.
