Breaking: Live grenade discovered in Belmopan cemetery

By Horace Palacio: A potentially deadly find was made in Belmopan on Saturday afternoon. Acting on intelligence, the Belmopan Quick Response Team (QRT) carried out an operation in the Salvapan area.

Hidden within the bounds of the cemetery on Nicaragua Street, the QRT stumbled upon an unsettling discovery: a yellow plastic bag. Within, a foam plate concealed a navy-green grenade adorned with yellow inscriptions.

Just two hours after the discovery, a bomb expert from the Belize Defence Force was at the scene. His assessment confirmed that the device was no mere relic; it was identified as a British-made K400 fragmentation live hand grenade.

Owing to the quick and strategic response by authorities, the live grenade was safely retrieved by the bomb expert and transported to the Belize Defence Force Military Base, ensuring the safety of residents and preventing any potential disaster.
