By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Commander of Community policing, Howell Gillett expressed pride for the participation of the Belize Police Youth cadets in Independence Day parades across the country.
More than 200 cadets participated in the Independence Day parades displaying their skills and training.
“Our objectives to promote the cadet initiative remain the same as the other programs under the umbrella of the Community Oriented Policing Unit.
It symbolizes the unity of the nation, as law enforcement represents the collective effort to maintain peace and order in society.
It also fosters a positive relationship between the police department and the community we serve, showcasing a more approachable and community-oriented image,” Gillett said.
Gillett also reiterated that the cadet participation serves as an educational experience for cadets, teaching them about the significance of Independence Day and their role in upholding democratic values.
The cadets participation also inspires youths to consider a career in law enforcement, thus aiding in recruitment efforts.
“Overall, the police cadet participation in Independence Day parade is a meaningful way to connect law enforcement with the community, promote patriotism, and reinforce the values of a democratic society,” Gillett added.
“Securing our future, one cadet at a time.”
